What is Lumecca IPL?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It works by administering light energy to pigments like melanin or hemoglobin in the skin which absorb the calculated wavelengths. There, the energy generates gentle heat, eventually causing the pigmented areas to flake off or be absorbed by the body. Whereas other skincare treatments address the whole surface of the skin, IPL has the benefit of targeted treatment that doesn’t damage the surrounding area. What Happens During Lumecca IPL Treatment?
At the beginning of your appointment, our knowledgeable technicians will discuss your goals and help you develop a personalized treatment package. IPL typically requires 2-4 sessions based on your goals and skin concerns. Once you’re ready, your skin will be prepared and treated. You’ll be given protective eye shields during treatment. Once the whole area is treated, you can return to your normal activities.
Lumecca IPL Maintenance
After treatment, it’s normal to have some redness and minor swelling. These side effects typically fade within the day. Over the next few days, your treated areas may become darker than usual – this is a normal part of the process and the areas will eventually flake off or be absorbed. It can take 7-10 days for the skin to completely recover, but you’ll see noticeable improvement in your skin’s clarity and tone. Once you finish your initial treatment package, we recommend returning for maintenance treatments every 6-12 months to regularly get rid of seasonal sun damage. It’s essential to keep your skin covered with SPF 30+ daily to prevent pigmentation from coming back.
